In the BrightXpress Mobility Suite mobile applications and updates can be automatically distributed across client devices using the built-in application distribution functionality with BrightForms and BrightServer Mobile Data Gateway.
The following are the steps required to distribute applications:
Create or update the mobile application using BrightBuilder.
From BrightBuilder, deploy the application to a BrightServer instance by right clicking on the project, and selecting "Deploy Application to Server..." from the context menu. Follow the prompts to complete deployment, which will indicate success with dialog and application release number. For more information, please refer to the BrightBuilder > Project Deployment chapter of this document.
Once deployed, connect to the BrightServer instance under the Servers panel then locate and open the Configuration > Users node, select Release Applications to Multiple Users.. button if releasing the application to multiple users otherwise, simply enter the Application Name and the Version number for each user row. This process is further detailed in BrightServer > User Configuration.
Setup BrightForms to connect to BrightServer by specifying the username, password and server address/port via the initial activation page or Help > Settings dialog.
Once configured, tap Activate on the initial page of BrightForms, or select Help > Synchronise to start the synchronisation process.
If there are any BrightForms executable or upgrade files that need to be processed, the Loader Program will first install these files before upgrading any files for the mobile application.
Ensure that the device has connectivity to the server before starting
any synchronisation process.
